Some symptoms require Dr. Wandzel to recommend surgical intervention. He can perform the following surgeries either in our office or at the hospital, depending on the procedure:
Nasal and Sinus Surgeries
- Septoplasty
- Turbinate surgery
- Maxillary antrostomy
- Ethmoidectomy
- Frontal sinusotomy
- Sphenoidotomy
- Nasal cauterization
- Functional rhinoplasty/Nasal fracture repair
Ear Surgeries
- Ear tubes (Tympanostomy, Myringotomy)
- Repairing a hole in the eardrum (Tympanoplasty or Tape myringoplasty)
- Canalplasty
- Mastoidectomy
Throat Surgeries
- Tonsillectomy
- Adenoidectomy
- Uvulectomy
- Vocal cord polypectomy
- Excision of other oral/throat lesions
For patients who are considered to have a low medical risk, Dr. Wandzel can perform some surgeries in the state-of-the-art operating room in our Highland office. He performs other surgeries at Huron Valley Sinai Hospital in Commerce Township, Michigan, St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital in Howell, Michigan, and Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi, Michigan.
Surgery in the Hospital
All ears/nose/throat surgeries Dr. Wandzel performs in the hospital are typically outpatient stays, meaning you’d return home later the same day. All three hospitals in which Dr. Wandzel performs surgeries do serve pediatric patients.

Dr. Wandzel also specializes in non-invasive approaches to treating nasal airway obstruction caused by allergens or other factors; he has developed and patented his own nasal spray, available upon prescription during office visits. This spray provides relief that lasts through the night and, unlike many similar products, will not over-dry the nasal membranes.
